The Mad Princess

Jack, now back to normal, sat in the corner of the art room after skipping his firearms class on Selfia's orders. But he wasn't alone; the princess had ordered the entire squad to assemble in the dusty abandoned building where they had all first met.

"So? How sure are you about the test being a BASE jump in the Frelia mountains?" Python asked as the group gathered round.

Selfia giggled, before beckoning to a large canvas map that unfurled from the ceiling. "Ta-da!"

"How…How did you get a map of all the checkpoints?" Python asked as he eyed the canvas hanging from the ceiling, with various red tacks in it.

Selfia beamed. "Oh Python, you should know there's nothing I can't get my hands on without time and preparation."

"Is this.. uhm… Isn't this technically cheating?" Kamilla asked.

"Why do you care? It's not like you're jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. All you medics have to do for your interim is dissect bodies. " Mai huffed, causing the girl to tuck herself into her scarf.

Since Kamilla was a non-commissioned medical assistant, she wasn't required to take combat courses. So unlike everyone else, she wouldn't be included in the test. Healer Awakened were apparently heavily sought-after, more so than regular Awakened, almost putting them on the same standard as nobles.

Almost.

Victoria hadn't known this when she first went after Kamilla, but her status as a healer, even a minor one, played a part in why the nobles left her alone.

"Ha! Don't mind Mai, she's just scared of heights." Ivan interjected, rallying to Kamilla's defense, which resulted in Mai punching him in the shoulder. "Ow!"

Leona walked past, putting a hand on Mai's head to push her to the side as the latter began to fume.

"Cheating or not, Selti, this gives us a major advantage for the test. I don't think the teachers would appreciate us having this." Leona said as she inspected the map alongside Python.

Selfia smiled. "Reeelax, all I've done is swipe a copy of the map that would be handed to each of us during the jump. So, take your time and study it. I've taken the luxury of putting rendez-vous points for each of us to meet up at."

"I can see that, lass." Python rubbed his chin. "Knowing the layout and checkpoints beforehand will be extremely useful. Although I doubt Lieutenant Blade would approve. Still, I'll take any advantage I can get."

"Spoken like a true merc." Selfia smiled as she beckoned everyone to look at the drawn mountain range.

"Even though we'll be dropped off at different locations, they'll be a bonus grade for teamwork and cohesion in the field." Selfia tapped the map, placing her hand on a blue star sticker. "There will also be a prize, a scavenging hunt of sorts."

"Is it money?" Python asked as Hiro joined him.

"Better," Selfia said, producing a black puck that sparked to life, showcasing a blue holographic image of a feathered cape. "A Cape of Odin. A rare artifact; only a few of them have been found, but from what I've gathered, this one transforms into a shield.
